ThrudBall 2024
Final Info
Looking at Rosters
Rosters for Thrudball 2024 can now be found here. During the tournament, this will be how you can check your opponent's roster before each round.
If you spot any issues with your roster, do contact us as soon as possible.
Schedule and timings
We'll have this information around the room during the tournament, but information on the schedule for the weekend can be found on the website here.
The important things for you to know about this point are:
Friday arrivals: Unless you have specifically okayed it with a member of the team, you should not arrive before 1600 on Friday to set up tents/catch up with people. This will give us time to set everything up and make sure everything is safe and ready.
Saturday registration: Registration and breakfast will begin at 0830 on Saturday morning.
Sunday Best Painted: Judging of the Best Painted Team will take place on Sunday over lunch. We'll tell you where entries should be put for consideration during the weekend.
Lights Out: Lights out is at 0100 every night. After this point, you must be quiet to allow others to sleep.
A note on cooking
We want to make clear the position on cooking at Thrudball.
Firstly, as we say in the rules on the website, barbecues and grills are absolutely not allowed. The venue does not want their grass to be damaged in any way, and we need to respect that.
Secondly, the use of small camping stoves for the purposes of heating up tea or coffee is permitted - the venue have kindly permitted us to do this since we joined them, and it makes life a little bit easier for everyone who's camping. We ask that everyone be really careful with them, as with any other source of flame, but this has historically been permitted and we don't want to change that.
As for cooking things like bacon and eggs/other meals on these stoves, we ask attendees not to do this. The venue is not a traditional campsite, and we want to minimise mess and damage to their environment. Cooking food goes beyond the minimal use of camping stoves envisaged when we agreed the heating of drinks, and we've arranged for meals including breakfast on both days, so food should not be an issue.
We hope that this clarifies things.
Dog Policy
As the venue is a sports club, no dogs are permitted on site.
Alcohol Policy
Just as a reminder, the venue has an alcohol policy; this means that attendees are not permitted to drink alcohol onsite which has been brought in from outside. All drinks consumed will have to be purchased from the venue.
If you are seen with your own alcohol, you will be asked to pour it out, and failing that you will be asked to leave.
